Professional Development

Professional Development courses for people working with women and families during the perinatal period.

WHY DO OUR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT?
The Pregnancy and Parenting Resource Centre is setting industry standards in the support of women and families during the perinatal period. Our courses have been undertaken and positively evaluated by nurses, doctors, psychologists, social workers and lay volunteers. Our research and resources are always being updated so you can be assured of the most up to date accurate information.

WHO IS IT FOR?
If you want to learn new knowledge and skills in the provision of psychosocial support in the context of the perinatal period this course is for you. You do not need to have any experience or qualifications to do the course. If you already have a qualification in a relevant discipline such as nursing, social work, psychology etc this course provides contextualised professional development.

We now have three courses available

  • Interpersonal Skills in Family Support (prerequisite to undertaking further courses)
  • Perinatal Support and Assessment
  • Sexual Health and Reproduction
  • Perinatal Loss (currently being reviewed)

Please see the full course guide for more information about each course.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

For a number of years courses were heavily subsidised by donations received from businesses and individuals.  We are no longer able to subsidise the courses, so some of you will notice an increase in costs.  The courses are still evaluated very highly as 'great value for money' and are very competitively priced.

Each course cost includes access to all materials and quizzes online, and email support during the enrolment period. Each Course = $375 (AUD) Work at your own pace, in your own time. We allow up to 12 weeks access to each course to give you maximum flexibility.
